Anthony Edwards keeps defying the laws of physics! The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar has been a sensational performer with the ball in his hands, so much so that he has often been compared to Michael Jordan. His game-saving block against the Indiana Pacers a few days ago created a huge impact on social media due to the athleticism on display. Well, just two games later now, Edwards pulled off something similar which has now earned him more comparisons to His Airness. Notably, it was not a fan this time, but a former NBA star, who has brought up the similarity.
In the game against the Los Angeles Lakers today, Edwards caught the ball in the paint and seemingly jumped out of the building while attempting a fierce dunk on Anthony Davis‘s head. AD has been one of the best shot blockers in the league for a while now. It’s not easy to get past The Brow. However, Edwards doesn’t care who is in the lane. While he missed the dunk by a few inches, fans were stunned to see his unmatched vertical. It was shocking enough for former Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas to compare him to Michael Jordan.

Thomas wrote on X, “Ant-Man definitely be floating like MJ.” Anyhow, this is not new for the T-Wolves guard. Fans have always believed that he is the MJ of the modern era. From the looks to the gameplay, there have been several similarities. Now, Thomas himself has approved it.

On March 7th, Edwards’ game-winning block on Aaron Nesmith caused Wolves legend Kevin Garnett to compare him to MJ. The 22-year-old had 44 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists along with a viral block. Minutes after the game, KG tweeted, “Ant-Man with a 40+ piece and the game-winning BLOCK? 88 Mike sh*t.” The Big Ticket was impressed at Edwards’s two-way performance, which Jordan was very efficient in back in the 90s.

Many have made the comparisons, but what does Anthony Edwards have to say about it?
Anthony Edwards addresses the Michael Jordan comparison with a bold claim
It would be easy for the 2x All-Star to accept the comparisons and sit right next to a legend. However, he believes there is a lot more that has to be achieved to be in the same conversation as MJ. He told Complex in an interview back in December, “I just want them to stop…Because he’s the greatest to ever play basketball and I’m so far from it.” There is a lot Edwards has to prove, but there is plenty of time for it. He is already leading the Wolves to their best season in almost two decades.

So, we can definitely expect more from him. While he believes he is not close to the Bulls legend, there is one aspect in which he thinks he can beat him. Edwards is sure that Jordan will not be able to guard him in the modern NBA. In fact, he was quite cocky about it too. He replied, “Hell nah. No,” which shows how confident he is about himself. Edwards has made his claims. What do you think about it?
