On the back of some other-worldly performances, Tyrese Haliburton has become an overnight sensation. The 23-year-old is flipping the script for the Indiana Pacers this season. Just days after taking down the Boston Celtics in the IST, the point guard has managed to knock the Milwaukee Bucks out as well. Now, the player is headed to face his idol LeBron James, and the Lakers. However, it still isn’t enough for one NBA veteran. In a recent discussion, the former Trail Blazers forward revealed one particular reason for supporting LeBron over Haliburton.

In the latest episode of the Knucklehead podcast, Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson reviewed the hype around the first-ever NBA In-season tournament and the contenders. Discussing the upcoming Lakers vs. Pacers game, Miles shared his perspective on the star players. Furthermore, he went on to talk about his desire for the outcome as well.

Hoping that LeBron could win the game, he said, I love Tyrese, but I kind of want LeBron to win it to validate the Season tournament like I don’t want a young team. I was hoping one of the veteran teams, one like KD, a guy like Dame.”

Despite supporting the emerging talent Haliburton, Miles leaned towards backing an older team for the championship. He recognizes the experience and seasoned prowess that veteran teams bring to crucial moments. While acknowledging Haliburton’s potential, Miles seems to value the battle-tested nature of older squads in the high-stakes landscape of the tournament.

Contradictory to his opinion, his co-host Richardson had a different take. While Haliburton hasn’t secured Miles’ support, his standout performance against the Celtics adds to the intrigue of witnessing how his game will unravel against LA.
