Minnesota Timberwolves are blessed to have a game-changer like Anthony Edwards. The 22-year-old shooting guard has been an unstoppable force on the offense and it is high time he gets his due credit. In the game against the Los Angeles Clippers today, Edwards managed to drop 22 points and 5 rebounds in just 20 minutes, to keep his team alive for the second half. Without Karl Anthony-Towns in the squad, the 2x All-Star has been the sole leader of the team, and that has provoked Shaquille O’Neal to draw comparisons.

The Los Angeles Lakers champion had some high praise for the youngster, as Edwards’ game reminded him of both Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade. Shaq shared, This kid right here he is at the top of the game. He wants it…This guy is the system, and he is the man. Very impressive. The 4x champion did not fail to add, He reminds me of a young D-Wade and a young Kobe. He’s going to score, he’s going to get his every time.” Edwards finished the game with 37 points and 8 rebounds, defeating a healthy Clippers.

Moreover, he was a threat on the defense today, which is something Wade and Bryant were the best at too. Notably, a few games back, he had a game-winning block over Aaron Nesmith which went viral all over the internet. This determination is the reason why Shaquille O’Neal wanted to put Edwards in the same conversation as the ‘Flash’ and the ‘Black Mamba’. With Karl Anthony-Towns out of the team, Minnesota is still Top 3, and that triggered the MVP debate on TNT.

Shaq loves what Edwards is doing for the T-Wolves. However, when it comes to the MVP conversation, he is not ready to put the 6’4 guard alongside Luka Doncic yet. Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are front runners for the MVP this season. Luka Doncic is at the top too, but not too favorable to win it. Shaq advocates for the Slovenian guard, but Charles Barkley wants ‘Ant-Man’ in the conversation too.

Edwards is averaging 26.3 points, which is lesser compared to the other MVP front runners. However, he has been there for his team when it matters the most. Barkley pointed out Karl Anthony-Town’s injury and how Edwards has taken up his position. Chuckster said, “If Minnesota finish with the best record on the West, I would have no problem with Antman winning MVP.”
