Adversity is Tuscaloosa’s new calling now, and the roster gulped down the acid test. But since then, the Tide is going stronger. After the 31-17 defeat, Ty-Simpson drew Kalen DeBoer’s redemption arc, and college football is witnessing the rise.

In the last two matchups, Alabama went 2-0 against La-Monroe (73-0) and Wisconsin (38-14). Tallying up a combined margin of 111-14. And rose seven spots in the AP poll. Clearly, the defeat stung. And the head coach is going full throttle. “You gotta weather the storm,” he said per 1045 ESPN’s Chris Marler.“You gotta play four quarters of football. It’s gotta be on you and the guys around you. There’s gonna be adversity, and it’s about how you respond to adversity.”

The head coach has loads to clean up at his plate. The fandom’s frustration is not stemming just from the loss against the Seminoles. But rather a boiling point of all the vexation simmering hot from the last eleven months. The last campaign went 9-4. A decent record. But Bama faithful had become too spoiled under Nick Saban. Six national championships! DeBoer’s first season saw the worst record the Crimson Tide has seen since the G.O.A.T. took over back in 2007. Losses to Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Tennessee made for a bitter aftertaste. And the Seminoles’ episode acted as a tipping point.

But now, for DeBoer, it has boiled down to his legacy. What is it going to be? His redemption arc has begun, and it all starts with distilling his confidence in his boys to the core. “You hate to go through it, but right now, the adversity, we’re better off because of it,” the head coach added. “There’s an edge that our guys have, and it’s been great seeing them really feel, have the fire fueled, on another level.”

Holding his head coach’s words true to his heart, Ty Simpson has since made an explosive performance, with an 89.1% completion rate. He chipped in 608 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, along with one rushing TD, with absolutely zero turnovers. And that speaks volumes. Undeniably, Alabama has taken the ‘Florida State Episode’ straight to its heart.

“He’s got some explosiveness,” DeBoer added about Simpson. “He’s got great strength. We really count on him. He had a great fall camp, so hopefully it doesn’t take him long to get back into the swing of things.” The season-opener saw rallying cries of “Fire DeBoer” and a $70 million hot seat reserved for him. But will Tuscaloosa hold on to the little faith they have in DeBoer and his roster?

Kalen DeBoer is cradling the $70 million hot seat

Tuscaloosa looked very eager to hand DeBoer his boots after the former Washington coach filled in the shoes of Nick Saban. Bama faithful looked very eager to hand DeBoer his boots. One Crimson Tide faithful bluntly stated her opinion. “I’d pay off Kalen DeBoer and get him the he-k out of the University of Alabama, and then I’d take whatever else it took to get rid of the AD,” a frustrated fan said on if she’d won the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot.

But will Alabama fire its head coach? Chances are pretty slim. Presently, his contract stretches till 2031. But if they move forward on that path, the program would roughly owe Kalen DeBoer $69 million. ($77 million, without cause). “Kalen DeBoer is almost impossible to fire this year,” Alabama Insider Bama Perspective wrote. “Buyout near $70 million … PLUS the roughly $21 million in salary cap that’s new … PLUS continuation of NIL deals … PLUS would need to pay a new coach … PLUS coordinator buyouts + new coordinators paid.”

Keeping tabs on Alabama’s present condition, the program is not financially stable to scoop out such a million-dollar amount for his release. The Athletic Director himself is appealing to the fans and alumni alike to donate to the ‘Yea Alabama NIL’, a collective to fight player poaching against programs, offering increased pay to players. Given the competitive nature of the transfer portal, combined with the NIL landscape. It’s already tough going. Not to forget the latest $20.5 million revenue-share model with athletes. So, Kalen DeBoer is getting fired. All the clues point to it being highly unlikely.

Coming up next, Bama will face off against Georgia. Can Ty Simpson leave his mark against Gunner Stockton? It would be interesting to witness how it goes in the concluding weeks of the season.
