Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class already ranks among the nation’s top five. Determined to keep that momentum rolling into future seasons, OSU has been actively poaching top talent, landing yet another major commitment flip. After securing 4-star DL Emanuel Ruffin and elite CB Jay Timmons earlier this month, the Buckeyes have now added a standout wide receiver to the mix, marking their third major flip this month.

On Monday, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Vols commit Legend Bey has flipped his commitment from Tennessee to OSU. This flip came less than two weeks after his visit to OSU on November 1 during OSU’s game against PSU. It shows that OSU’s development and strong play in their 38-14 win over PSU definitely impressed the 185 lb athlete. As he said, “BIA, I believe development is a big factor, and I want to be that.”

The Forney, Texas native had been pledged to Tennessee since June 28, despite holding 37 offers. Losing the No. 24-ranked athlete in the 247Sports composite is a gut punch for the Vols, but a massive win for the Buckeyes. And for good reason, he’s thrown for 1,341 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while also rushing for over 4,000 yards and 94 total TDs across his high school career. Now, while OSU’s lead recruiter, Carlos Locklyn, has stayed in close contact since the visit and has become a key figure in his recruitment, he believes Bey could be a perfect fit, but there’s a catch.

Bey originally committed to the Vols as a WR, and if that role sticks at OSU, he’ll enter one of the deepest WR rooms in CFB. But Bey’s high school resume hints at more than just receiving talent. He played there as a QB and is now searching for the right field, which will allow him to play as a freshman, as the On3 report revealed a few hours before his OSU commitment.

While this seems to be his reason for decommitting from the Vols, his hidden motive could spell trouble for Ryan Day. OSU already has a sophomore QB in Julian Sayin, and he has racked up 2491 yards and 24 TDs so far this season. While he’s leading the nation in completion percentage and has 3 more years left at OSU, Bey’s playing time next season as a freshman could be tough, unless an unexpected scenario opens the door.

Now, while Bey’s pledge adds more firepower to OSU’s 2026 class, which sits at No. 3 in the B1G with a total of 25 commitments, Day’s son’s recruitment visit is making headlines.

Ryan Day’s son makes a visit, but not to OSU

On Saturday, when OSU rolled into Purdue, HC Ryan Day had more than game plans on his mind. It was a family affair with a twist in West Lafayette. Ryan Day’s son, RJ Day, was on a recruiting visit with Purdue. Adding a personal storyline to the Buckeyes’ business trip, the timing turned heads. However, the   2027 QB prospect has been lighting up the high school circuit.

Ranked No. 32 in Ohio among QBs, RJ’s already shown poise. He torched Ashland for an unofficial school-record 482 yards and three touchdowns just a week ago. He threw 16-of-19 for 275 yards against Columbus Africentric earlier this season. Considering such a display of talent, the eldest of Ryan Day’s three children has no shortage of options.

RJ currently holds offers from Syracuse, Boston College, Akron, Bowling Green, and more. Whether his journey keeps him close to home or leads him elsewhere, his father’s legacy may soon carry through in the next generation of Day.
