Ryan Day’s son, RJ Day, the junior QB of St. Frances DeSales High School, has been setting big records. He is a three-star prospect of the 2027 class with multiple scholarships in hand, but the Buckeyes haven’t offered him yet. That day may come soon as he continues to add to his already impressive resume.

Last Friday, RJ Day led his school, St. Francis de Sales, to a 33-29 win against Ashland, setting a new single-game program record by throwing for 482 yards and three touchdowns. This includes a game-winning touchdown pass to Buckeye target TE Jordan Karhoff. With this, DeSales won the opening game of the OHSAA Region 7 playoff.

Day’s performance made him a nominee for the National High School Boys Athlete of the Week, which features the best performances across the country. Ryan Day’s son made a public request to his followers to vote for him for the national male athlete of the week. “Please vote for me for national male athlete of the week!” he posted on X.

A total of 19 high school athletes across the nation were featured in the poll for their incredible performance of the week, from November 3 to November 9. The voting bracket will remain active until Sunday, Nov. 16, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). The winners will be announced in next week’s post.

This is not the only time the QB has broken the school record! A week ago, RJ Day set another school record for most passing yards in a season, breaking Jimmy Vahalik’s 1,908 yards in 2006. The 6-foot QB registered 2,056 yards and 21 TDs, equalling the most TDs in program history. This earned him multiple scholarships from some big schools across the country.

RJ Day has multiple offers over OSU

RJ Day is a 3-star prospect, ranked No. 32 in Ohio State and nationally No. 822. The QB has been receiving offers since 2023. Boston was the first to extend an offer to him. The junior has now received 15 scholarship offers, including Bowling Green, Syracuse, Boston College, Purdue, Temple, Charlotte 49ers, Miami RedHawks, Kent State, Akron, and a few other programs.

While RJ Day is not viewed as one of the top QB prospects in the nation, most wonder if he would end up with the Buckeyes under his dad, Ryan Day. However, Ohio State has not yet extended an offer to him, instead focusing on other prospects in the same class. Jordan Karhoff, who is in the TE of the same school, received an offer from the Buckeyes.

However, Day still has another full season of high school left, so there is a high chance that his stock could rise significantly. This ‘National High School Boys Athlete of the Week’ honor could be a big boost for RJ’s resume. There is no doubt that if the 6-foot-1, 205-pound quarterback continues to break records, he will likely receive several more scholarship offers in the coming months. We need to wait and watch where the 2027 prospect lands a commitment.
