Ryan Day has got two Heisman-caliber weapons on his offense. QB Julian Sayin and WR Jeremiah Smith are gunning for the coveted Heisman Trophy. Although that conversation never left the chat, OSU’s win over Penn State skyrocketed their Heisman campaign. Amid all the buzz, Coach Day has raised an issue.

It’s been so long since Columbus is waiting for the Heisman Trophy to be back on display against the glorious walls of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. In 2006, QB Troy Smith won the Heisman. Since then, the Buckeyes have been waiting. However, much to their delight, they have the top two Heisman prospects this season. But Ryan Day couldn’t bother less. “Just win the game. That’s it,” he stressed.

For Coach Day, these individual accolades are not the top priority. “If individual honors show up at the end of the season, they do, but that’s not the No. 1 goal. That’s part of the unselfishness of all of this.” The Buckeyes are the No. 1 team in the country. However, Columbus won’t call it a day until they beat their arch-rival, Michigan.

“Nobody wants to win against them more than we do, more than I do. It’s part of the job here,” Day told On3’s Chris Low. Ryan Day has been chasing that win for over four years and has yet to achieve that feat. He continued. “So every time we play, it matters. There’s no way to de-emphasize it, but what it comes down to is how well we prepare throughout the season to go play in that game, then handle our business of having a great week of preparation and then go from there.”

Saturday’s win couldn’t get more epic for Ohio State. Julian Sayin became the only QB to complete 85% of his passes for more than 300 yards and at least three passing touchdowns. He joined Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith in having the same record. No other quarterback has achieved such a feat this season, according to ESPN research. With a QB rating of 90.9, Sayin beat Penn State, 38-14, and the Buckeyes launched a WeSayinHeisman website.

On the other hand, college football can’t get enough of Jeremiah Smith’s iconic catches. The one-handed tipped TD catch against Penn State? You cannot possibly argue that Smith does not belong in the Heisman conversation. Recording 100-yard receiving games against three teams, recording 725 total yards, and nine touchdowns. He is another frontrunner for the prestigious honor, as fans rally behind his campaign on JJ4Heisman.com.

Likewise, Day’s RB room is racking up quite the praise this season. Steve Muench called RB Carnell Tate, a first-round pick, in a conversation with Todd McShay. Ryan Day is determined, “something that we want to win … and have to win.” OSU will face off against Michigan at the end of November. Everyone can expect Julian Sayin to come out all guns blazing as he’s among the hottest topics trending in college football. Well, the QB hasn’t shied away from dedicating his wins to his team.

Ohio State’s Julian Sayin lauds team offense and chemistry

After the Penn State win, Julian Sayin’s Heisman prospects have soared. With a completion percentage of 80.7%, he tops the national chart. For context, no other quarterback has a completion rate above 75%. But he remains humble and dedicates the wins to his team.

“The receivers do a great job, and the running backs do a great job in pass protection, and it’s really the offensive line giving me time to be able to go through my read,” Sayin said per ESPN. “So, that’s really a team stat.” Over the season, Sayin has chipped in 23 touchdowns for 2,188 yards, with just three interceptions. His WR and RB room is a significant factor, contributing to his success.

Talking about Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith, the QB added. “Those guys are the two best in the country, and they show it every Saturday,” he said per Eleven Warriors. “I see them practice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when they go make plays against the best defense in the country. So I think it shows up within our week, and then it shows up on Saturdays.”

With that, OSU fans are excited to win the holy trifecta. The Big Ten title, the national championship, and beat the team up north.
