Everything seems to be on track for an Aaron Rodgers comeback in the 2024 season. His season-ending Achilles injury put an early halt to the New York Jets‘ dreams last year. However, things are looking up with his recovery en route.
The veteran quarterback’s arrival in New York has been a lifeline to the hopes of the Jets fans. The Gang Green has yet to reach a playoff since 2010, and Rodgers was brought in to be the perfect catalyst to break the spell. The head coach’s recent updates paint a promising picture of the revival of the team’s hopes, albeit a season late.

Robert Saleh provides an update on Aaron Rodgers ahead of the OTAs
The Jets have been revamping their roster this offseason. With backup QBs Tyrod Taylor and Florida rookie Jordan Travis, as well as receivers Mike Williams and rookie Malachi Corley’s additions, all that’s left is Rodgers’ return in full health. According to Robert Saleh, the day might not be very far off either!
The HC had some reassuring news for the Jets fans as he announced that their star quarterback is working through rehab, and there haven’t been any worrying signs so far. “He’s here, he’s working,” Saleh said, as per NFL’s website. “I mean, the guy can still sling it. Obviously, he’s still working through his rehab, but no issues on the trajectory on which he’s going.”
The coach further shared that he doesn’t expect Rodgers to miss the organized team activities (OTAs), which take place in the third phase of the offseason workouts. “It’s naturally managed because of the phase one, phase two part of it,” he said. “But once phase three hits, we’re not anticipating any restrictions from what we can and can not do with him.” With Rodgers’ return looking more hopeful than ever, it’s not just the fans who are excited, but also his soon-to-be mentee, the young 2024 draft pick.

Jordan Travis feels it’s a “blessing” to play with Rodgers
The fifth-round pick can relate to the Super Bowl champion on some level. Travis suffered a season-ending leg injury last season with the Seminoles, which would be a contributing factor in his draft position falling rapidly. The ACC Player of the Year now joins the room with veterans like Rodgers and Taylor and would have ample time to recover and gain experience to establish his holding in the professional league.
Travis, already a fan of the former Seahawks star, couldn’t be happier at joining the Jets and expressed his excitement after his draft. “I love watching Aaron Rodgers; since I was a little boy,” he said. “He’s my brother’s favorite quarterback, so I’ve always watched him, & having the opportunity to go work with him and just learn from him is such a blessing. I’m so, so grateful. This feeling; I can’t even describe this feeling, man.”

He further mentioned the other Super Bowl Champion QB in the team who recently signed a two-year deal with the Jets. “Also, you have Tyrod Taylor, who’s been around the league for a long time. It’s a perfect situation for me. Go in there, get healthy and just learn from these guys.”
Aaron Rodgers is clearly the pivotal figure in the New York Jets, and the franchise has been building the roster around the four-time MVP all throughout this offseason. With hopes of his comeback looking brighter than ever, fans and the team are hopeful of breaking the dry spell and maybe even reaching the Super Bowl in the 2024 season.
