Aaron Rodgers has officially surpassed Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre in career passing touchdowns in week 3’s Sunday’s game. But the player isn’t very happy about his team’s performance. Despite forcing five turnovers, the  Pittsburgh Steelers‘ offense struggled to put the game away early, allowing the New England Patriots to stay in the contest until the very end. Even though the team won with a score of 21-14, the inconsistent offensive performance was a clear point of frustration for the team’s QB, Aaron Rodgers.

During the post-game conference, quarterback Aaron Rodgers took full responsibility for the team’s shaky performance. He acknowledged the offense’s poor execution and its inability to capitalize on the many opportunities the defense provided, expressing his disappointment in their gameplay.

He said, “Just our defense, honestly. I mean, there was urgency. I think it was one of those weird, disjointed games. We had three possessions in the first half. We had a chance on the third possession to keep it going, but Pat and I weren’t on the same page on the scramble drill. Then we sat on the bench for what seemed to be 20 or 30 minutes.”

He highlighted that the team was unable to find a consistent rhythm throughout the game.  Specifically mentioning that while their first two drives were successful and in sync, they failed to maintain that flow in the second half. Rodgers also took responsibility for a “terrible throw” he made, and credited the defense for playing exceptionally well all day, a performance he said helped secure the victory.

While the Steelers had their struggles, the game was not a complete loss. Aaron Rodgers has set a new benchmark for himself.

Two decades after Rodgers was drafted to be Favre’s successor in Green Bay Packers, Rodgers, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has achieved the milestone of breaking his friend’s record in a Sunday victory against the New England Patriots.

The record-breaking score, his 509th career touchdown pass, was a 12-yard strike to wide receiver DK Metcalf, giving him one more than Favre’s 508. Rodgers later threw a winning pass to Calvin Austin III in the fourth quarter, solidifying a strong 510 pass.

During the post-game press conference, Rodgers reflected on the achievement, but kept his comments grounded, saying, I mean, not super-duper high. It means I played a long time. I grew up and Niners quarterbacks were my favorite. And then Brett… I got to play with Brett. I was drafted the year after Phil Rivers. I had a friendship through the game with him for years.”
