The conspiracy theorists are at it once again. And much fuel has been added to the fire that the Super Bowl is rigged. And we take the devil’s advocate positions on both sides of the argument.

Almost all professional sports suffer from this conspiracy theory, that the outcomes are already fixed. And the NFL is no different. With the divisional rounds still to be played, the conspiracy theory is that the Super Bowl will be played between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.

The logo for Super Bowl 56 had orange and yellow colors, participating teams were the Bengals and the Rams. Super Bowl 57 had green and red colors, which matched the Eagles and the Chiefs.

The logo for Super Bowl 58 had purple and red colors, perfectly matching the Ravens and the 49ers. And they both are just one game away from reaching the Super Bowl. Twice it could have been a coincidence, but three times seems like a pattern.

During a January 18 broadcast of CTV News Vancouver, they ran a display talking about the halftime performers at the Super Bowl halftime show. This broadcast aired even before the wild card rounds. Once again, the broadcast predicted the Super Bowl to be contested between the Ravens and the 49ers.

Against the conspiracy theory

Almost every conspiracy theory seems intriguing at first glance, but rarely does any have legs to stand on. This one makes no sense for the NFL to rig the games. It’s a multi-billion dollar business that depends on the integrity and credibility of its product.

The sample size used in the logo conspiracy is too minuscule. Only 3 out of 58, so the suggestion is that out of nowhere, the NFL started to rig the entire league three years ago. Since the colors for previous logos which are designed well ahead of the postseason, do not match in any other years.

The logistics of the involvement of numerous coaches, staff, and players to keep up the sham is next to impossible. An impossible task and then doing all that to reveal the entire thing in the logo colors is nonsensical. Also, TV broadcast is most positively a gaffe, that happens almost every day on news channels or others.
