The New York Jets may have lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, but they got a surprise visit from their injured QB Aaron Rodgers. The two-time MVP, who tore his Achilles in the season opener, showed up on the sideline at MetLife Stadium and threw some passes before the game. This sequence caused Pat McAfee to question the legitimacy of A-Rod’s injury.

At one point or another, all of us have believed in some sort of conspiracy theory. But McAfee’s comments about the authenticity of A-Rod’s injury have massive implications. McAfee had hosted A-Rod on his popular The Pat McAfee Show days after the horrific injury and the comments made by the superstar QB on his appearance have added fuel to the fire.

The 39-year-old QB injured his Achilles tendon in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills. As McAfee watched the video of A-Rod on the sideline throwing the balls he said, “”There’s no way this guy tore his Achilles and already doing whole that thing”. Though his co-hosts immediately jumped and stated that maybe Rodgers is built differently. The former punter for the Colts said with a cheeky smile “I’m just joking.” But he did not let the issue to rest.

McAfee then started to formulate that it is next to impossible to be walking around in less than a month after tearing Achilles. The hosts of the show also brought up the fact that Rodgers told on his appearance that he expects to get in shape within 4 months, which McAfee does not agree with.

The medical consensus on recovery time for an NFL player returning from a torn Achilles is about 9-12 months. But Rodgers cites the Vikings RB Cam Akers who came back from a similar injury in 4 months. McAfee and his co-hosts think that is a one-in-a-lifetime thing but also agree that A-Rod is moving rather well, so close to injury. This will be a welcome good news for The Jets as they look to get back on the winning track.

A-Rod was supposed to be the mentor and guiding figure to 24-year-old backup QB Zach Wilson. But the youngster is left to fend for himself in the wake of the disastrous injury.  QB Wilson had the best game of his career, throwing for 267 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He showed poise, accuracy, and mobility against a tough Chiefs defense.

Despite losing Rodgers, the Jets have not given up on their season. They put up a valiant performance against the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs, losing by just three points, 23-20. The Jets will look to build on their positive performance when they face the Denver Broncos on Monday night at Empower Field at Mile High. The Broncos are also 1-3 and are coming off a thrilling comeback win over the Chicago Bears
