After Aaron Rodgers, another player seemed to have put his season in jeopardy because of artificial turf. Taylor Swift did not wish Travis Kelce on his birthday on social media, and now she did not show up for his match against the Vikings as well. As if Taylor’s absence was not enough, the Chiefs TE suffered an injury that sent Chiefs fans and fellow sports persons into panic. Shannon Sharpe’s “no contact” post on X caught the spotlight amid the wishes of millions of fans who are praying after this blow.

Kelce had missed the season opener against the Detroit Lions and his absence cost the Chiefs their only loss of the season so far. But as fans continue to pray, there is also a debate going on about the condition of specific NFL turfs. The bigger question still remains: With Kelce getting injured again, should the Chiefs give up Super Bowl dreams?

At half-time, the Chiefs and Vikings were leveled up at 13-13. And then, while running with the ball, TE Travis Kelce slipped and crashed to the ground. He threw his helmet to the ground and screamed while pointing to his right foot before limping to the locker room.

Legendary Broncos TE Shannon Sharpe spoke about the crash on X (formerly, Twitter) with the caption, “I saw my phew, @tkelce go down with a non contact. Praying 4 the best, but it didn’t look good.😔😔😔😔 #NFLSunday #Chiefs #Vikes”.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the TE was seen jogging around the field as the two teams prepared for the second half. While this is a great sign that the injury may not be serious, fans do not want to get their hopes up. Since this was a non-contact injury, it is likely that the artificial turf is to be blamed. If that is the case, this will be the second high-profile turf-related accident today after Buffalo Bills’ cornerback Taron Johnson also hurt his knee due to the artificial turf. Well, the NFL is under fire for reasons that can’t be ignored.

The Chiefs fans are blaming the Vikings turf!

The Chiefs may have managed a 7-point victory over their NFC rivals, but the NFL had come under fire for not arranging grass fields after 4x NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury at the MetLife Stadium, 75 seconds into the game. During this season, the turf issue was raised when Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1. Both fans and media now have bigger questions regarding playing surfaces at specific NFL venues.

Nate Taylor, a Chiefs’ writer at The Athletic was one of the first ones who voiced his concern after Kelce’s injury during the Sunday Game. He wrote on X, “It’s been 10 years of unprecedented health & performance for Travis Kelce. And yes, it appears the turf played a role.”

One fan expressed, “It WAS the role. He slipped then his cleats bit and rolled his ankle. Pretty sure grass wouldn’t have.”

Another Chiefs fan mentioned, “I have zero coherent words on Travis Kelce. Dude is unbelievable. Don’t take this for granted, Chiefs fans.”

Geoff Schwartz, the host of “Geoff Schwartz Is Smarter Than You” podcast wrote, “Chiefs 4-1 after five weeks without their offense in rhythm yet. Arrowhead Invitational still on track.”

Podcaster Danny Kanell posted, How many times do we need to see this happen before the NFL decides to replace all artificial turf fields????”

While the Vikings turf issue continues to draw attention, one thing remains paramount. The Chiefs’ fans and the league “want their TE healthy and on the football field.” While Patrick Mahomes may have made history on the Sunday game, but come one, the squad needs Kelce!
