McAfee hints at Brady making a return in the NFL

In one of his latest episodes, McAfee asked whether Brady would return to the NFL. He referred to the conversation Brady had while getting himself a makeover where he expressed his wish, “I’ll always be able to throw the ball so to come in for a little bit like MJ coming back um I don’t know if they let me but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.” Analyzing Brady’s desire, McAfee commented, “You got people playing into their 40s yeah speaking of Tom Brady might be coming back…Tom Brady just sprinkled in a little fod for everybody chat about wait a second is the goat getting back into the barn.”

In the same episode, as he continued the conversation, McAfee mentioned he would host Purdy as his guest the following day. It did not take the fans more than a second to understand why the analyst mentioned this. It was the 49ers who showed interest in taking in Brady when their quarterback got injured.

Shanahan sought Brady as Purdy’s substitute

Purdy ushered in success for San Francisco as the quarterback led the 49ers to Super Bowl 58. There has been a place to fill as to who would assist Purdy in the 2023 season, with he and the 2021 first-round pick, Trey Lance, both coming off injuries. Even though Purdy was assumed to be the starter, he underwent an elbow injury during the NFC championship game. At that time, Brady was retiring, and San Francisco contacted the TB12.

HC Kyle Shanahan’s consideration of Brady was not without thought for Purdy. Despite the UCL tear in his throwing elbow that required major offseason surgery, Shanahan saw a potential learning opportunity for Purdy. In an interview, he expressed, “I wanted to assure him, ‘Don’t worry. You’re our guy. But how cool would it be if Tom Brady would be the quarterback here for one season? How cool would it be for you to learn from him?'” This perspective offers a glimmer of hope for Purdy’s recovery and future in the team.

However, ultimately did not join the San Francisco 49ers. Currently, he is now in a rough patch regarding his ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders. It is now to be seen whether, managing everything, the TB12 ultimately makes a comeback to the NFL or not.
