Jim Harbaugh redefined what it truly means to be a Michigan Man. Harbaugh knows he etched history by making Michigan go straight to the National Championship win without losing a single game for the whole season. As he tethers on the edge of making his mark as a Chargers’ head coach, he thought of immortalizing his Michigan records by keeping them on his sleeve. Literally.
The 15-0 record would forever be etched in the books of the NCAA, but Harbaugh has now etched it on his skin as well. Mike Sainristil, an in-vouge CB in the 2024 NFL draft class out of Michigan, took to his Instagram to share a picture of Jim Harbaugh getting a tattoo of the symbol “M” with a“15-0” record on his left shoulder. “Coach getting tatted,” wrote Sainristil in his story.

The tattoo comes as a promise fulfilled by Harbaugh that he made to his team. Post Michigan’s 34-13 win over Washington in the CFB championship game, Jim Harbaugh made a confession to the reporters about a promise he made to the Michigan players.

“I have no ink on my body. No tattoos anywhere, but I did say that to our players. I said if we go 15-0, I’m getting a tattoo. It’s 15-0. I’m going to put it on my shoulder, I don’t know if it’s my left or right yet. I’m a right-handed quarterback. I’ll probably get it on my right. And then an M too, an M that’s maize and blue M. Also that signifies a thousand in Roman numerals,” Harbaugh said.

Per Harbaugh’s confession, the Roman numeral M added whole another layer of meaning to his tattoo since Michigan set the record of being the first college football program to win 1,000 games with its 31-24 victory over Maryland on Nov. 18. Celebrating this and many other records that they set in Michigan, Jim Harbaugh returned to Ann Arbor for the last time before bidding his final goodbye to Maize and Blue.
Jim Harbaugh returns to Ann Arbor
Saturday was a special day at Ann Arbor since it marked the return of the 15-0 team, the team who battled against all odds to lift the National Championship ring to Ann Arbor. Jim Harbaugh and his team got together for the final time to celebrate the ring ceremony. The former Maize and Blue squad assembled just a day before the Spring game kicks off in Michigan to receive the commemorative.

Mike Sainristil took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the sleek black box with four shiny rings adorning Michigan’s symbol on it. The Big Ten Championship ring, The Rose Bowl winners ring, the National Championship ring, and a custom-made National Championship ring from the school. Jim Harbaugh also posed with Robby Emery with his finished tattoo and the studded rings on his fingers, a picture that Emery posted on his Instagram stories.
