Coach Prime bends his ways for no one! The large-scale exit at CU triggered several sensitive points for the university, especially for Coach Prime. One pressing issue among them was the players at CU coming in for business, aka, more money through NIL that they could make. Given Colorado’s and Deion Sanders’ popularity in recent days, fans anticipated the issue forthcoming.
Deion Sanders, however, was not about to take any of that from the coming players as he issued a no-nonsense, blunt response during his press conference. “I don’t sell dreams, I don’t sell hopes, I don’t sell wishes, I tell them everything. They gonna get hurt. I’m not going to promise you a number, promise you a position. I’m not going to promise you a start. If you want, come get it. We don’t sugarcoat anything. We are a tremendous navigation system throughout the game. We know what we doing,” Sanders admitted candidly.

Along with this, Sanders also clarified his approach towards the game. While his business acumen might be something that got him the best of publicity, football is something he reverses. Hence, he strictly followed the no football, no business approach.

“If you want money, go to that department and talk about that, but I’m not the guy to talk about that. I’m talking football. So if it’s business. I want you to come here for football. Now, once we get to football together and the business works, let’s do it. But don’t come here for business as a secondary thought process if football,” He added further, growing quite frustrated. This came in the light of Colorado expecting some more players along with Coach Prime’s apprehension surrounding the players getting in for the NIL money that CU produces since the 17 players exited CU in the spring transfer portal.
Transfer portal disaster continues to strike
As if looking at a setback from Cormani McClain and Dylan Edwards wasn’t enough, Cu is looking down the barrel of some serious roster vacancies with all the talents that have left CU. Last week, DE Eric Brantley Jr. took to the transfer portal too, adding to the number of transfers. The 6-foot, 235-pound defensive end only spent 4 months at Buffs since he came in as a part of this season’s recruiting class.
Safeties Jaden Milliner-Jones and Myles Slusher, offensive linemen Isaiah Jatta and Savion Washington, and defensive lineman Chazz Wallace were some other names from CU that joined McClain in the transfer portal. However, Sanders has hardly said a negative word about them directly, rather has offered his best wishes for the players for their future.
