Shedeur Sanders is certainly feeling the pressure! But what led college football fans to question the Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback? The shocking twist came from ESPN’s 2025 NFL Mock Draft, where Shedeur was unexpectedly moved to the second spot, with Georgia Bulldogs’ Carson Beck taking the top position. While there are multiple reasons behind this move, Buffs haters’ army has come down on Deion Sanders’ son’s downgrading. Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Matt Miller has spoken about the heartbreaking move while college football fans grill Shedeur!

The Buffs fans must have been bewildered when ESPN dropped a truth bomb on July 3. Going by the mock draft, Miller, the man behind the listings, did not find Shedeur impressive enough to claim the top spot. Instead, he thought it wiser to honor the Bulldogs’ QB Beck. However, he did not come up with this analysis randomly, as later on, Miller explained what had gone through his mind while preparing the rankings. According to him, the New York Giants will be trading up to draft Beck while the Las Vegas Raiders would pursue Shedeur.

Miller supported Beck, claiming, “Carson Beck’s best quality is that big right arm that allows him to make throws to every level of the field. He’s a super fast processor in the pocket.” Unfortunately, his analysis of Shedeur did not turn out to be as positive. While Miller is a big fan of the Buffs’ quarterback, he is still unsure about Sanders’ durability. “Shedeur Sanders, very surgical as a passer, but he gets rocked in the pocket at times. Can get a little bit beat up. That’s going to be a big question for a quarterback who is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds,” Miller raised concerns. Even though in 2023, Sanders rushed for four scores, he ended up with a negative rushing total thanks to the times he was sacked. Meanwhile, the Buffs haters fully used this mock draft.

Mock draft tangles Shedeur in fans’ backlash 

After the nepotism allegations raised during the transfer season, Shedeur was already the focus of negative attention. The mock draft just reinforced the negativity. Even though Miller pushed Shedeur to No. 2, it was still unjustifiable for a fan who wished for a further lower rank for the Buffs QB as he quipped, “Sanders at #2 is hilarious.”

Another fan went beyond Shedeur’s poor on-field records and expressed concern about the adverse effects his values will have on football culture, “Any NFL who values itself will not take Sanders, he’s awful for culture.”

“Because no one wants the headache (his father) that comes with him,” said a hater who did not spare the Buffs head coach. Another fan latched on the Xavier Smith controversy and the online feud that Shedeur got involved after which the QB came off as a warning sign for many, “Because Sanders seems like an absolute headcase based off of everything we’ve heard The man literally hopped on Twitter to say he didn’t know one of his own teammate’s names. He’s a walking red flag in that regard.” “[I]f you think shedeur belongs on this list then i will never take you seriously,” read a scathing remark doubting Shedeur’s readiness for the NFL. 

Even though social media is filled with negativity about Shedeur, Deion Sanders is believed to turn the narrative in his son’s favor in every way. All the Buffs quarterback needs to do this season is reduce the sack percentage, for which Coach Prime has guarded and revamped the O-line set up for his son. All eyes on Shedeur!
