With the uncertainty of his future in the league looming large, the Packers QB has stirred speculation about his potential decision regarding his future. However, a recent report shows that this core figure from the Green Bay team was already over the QB.

Rodgers himself mentioned that the decision of what the future holds would be revealed eventually. But certain hints from other key figures offer more insight into the Packers’ predicament. According to reports, a big name within the Packers organization was ready to move on from the QB. From the looks of it, this season’s poor performance was the last straw for the franchise. But who will take over from the four-time MVP?

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein’s recent report has seemingly shed light on where the Packers stand. Green Bay’s General Manager Brian Gutekunst reportedly confided with a colleague about his conviction for the Packers to move on from Aaron Rodgers last year. According to the New York Post, “at one point late last year, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told an NFL colleague he was convinced it was time the organization move on from” the 39-year-old quarterback. He reportedly added that this move would entail giving backup QB Jordan Love a shot at proving his worth.

But A-Rod has spent his entire career with the Packers. At the same time, the QB’s shift from wanting to retire in Green Bay to be open to any possibility indicates that something is afoot. While Rodgers has mentioned that he wouldn’t hold anything against the Packers if they chose to move on with another QB, the situation is rather sticky.

What will Rodgers do?

Aaron Rodgers’ contract with the Packers hasn’t made the situation easy to navigate from the team’s perspective. After offering him a $150 million, three-season contract extension, letting go of the QB will be difficult if they don’t find a team willing to compensate them.
