It is not usual for an offensive linesman to strip a QB, not unless they’re playing on the defensive team for some reason. And it is even more difficult for them to strip a QB while playing as an offensive team member. Such an achievement should ideally be a proud moment for a player. But Baltimore Ravens’ Morgan Moses would beg to differ. During the Ravens’ game against the New Orleans Saints, Moses accidentally stripped his QB, Lamar Jackson, off the ball.

During the 2nd quarter, with 12:03 left to go, Cameron Jordan makes it past Moses to try to get his sixth sack of the year. Moses gives chase, as Jackson twists and turns to avoid Jordan’s lunge. Seconds later, Moses smashes into Jackson, and his hand accidentally tips the ball out of Jackson’s hand. The ball bounces a few feet ahead, before Jackson retrieves it to make a massive throw down the field, which ends up incomplete.

This was just one of the few mishaps the Ravens had during the game, but they still managed to dominate the Saints. The Ravens’ were also able to outscore their opponents in the 4th quarter for the first time this season. Such a development could be raising the hopes of Ravens’ fans about future games, and potentially a good post-season.

NFL fans are amused as Lamar Jackson gets stripped by his own teammate

Moses stripping Jackson is a funny encounter for everyone to watch, in retrospect of it being harmless. Twitter comes alive with claims of the incident being staged, and that the players could have done better with their acting. Maybe the Ravens’ did orchestrate this, to add more salt to the Saints’ wounds? Others suggest Moses tried to strip his own QB because he has money on the line.

The Ravens may have been able to get past the Saints with relative ease, but they seem to be struggling to address another big problem: Jackson‘s contract. The Ravens and Jackson have been going back and forth with this for almost 2 seasons now. And recently, Jackson rejected a $25o million contract with $133 million guaranteed. And his response to reporters confirming his rejections of the contract says it all. “Fully guaranteed?”, he asks.

Jackson is a rare breed when it comes to quarterbacks, his passing and rushing prowess making him a powerful piece on the field. And that is exactly why analysts and fans cannot fathom why the Ravens would not give Jackson a deal akin to what Deshaun Watson got from the Cleveland Browns, and Kirk Cousins has at the Minnesota Vikings.

A fully guaranteed deal for a player of caliber shouldn’t be a deal breaker, according to many. Are the Ravens digging their own grave budging? Will the Ravens have to shell out a lot more later in the season, as Jackson’s performance keeps getting better?
