Before the highly anticipated fight between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez on Saturday. NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr. connected with Alvarez on a video call, cheering the Mexican on to come out victorious.

In a conversation held on a video call, NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. declared his support for Alvarez. Telling the boxer, “Let’s go ahead, let’s kick his a**,”. The NFL star is widely known to be a fan of boxing. When asked for about his support for the sport, OBJ gave credit to no one else but Canelo Alvarez. “I’m a big fan of you. You made me like boxing.” added the NFL star. 

How the fight turned out

Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin squared off in a matchup on Saturday night. It was the third fight between the two boxers. The first fight was a draw in 2017. In their second encounter, Alvarez came away with the victory by a majority decision in 2018. Their third fight, which just concluded last night, saw Canelo become the undisputed middleweight champion.

The Super Bowl champion must have enjoyed the performance put up last night by his favorite boxer. Seeing him completely dominate Golovkin. Doing exactly what Beckham asked him to do.

Odell Beckham Jr. walking into the new season

The star athlete won his first Super Bowl last season. He joined the Los Angeles Rams mid-season. His addition turned out to be the last piece in a championship-winning roster. OBJ even registered a touchdown for his team before being forced off the field due to an injury.

Currently, Odell Beckham Jr. is still nursing himself back from a torn ACL. He is still a free agent this season. Watching his favorite in the ring could spur Beckham to complete his rehabilitation. He will be looking to step back on the field as soon as possible, but he still has a long road ahead.
