But NFL veteran, Anthony Spice Adams has a stark admission for athletes like him.
The former Chicago Bears DT was talking to LA Lakers and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal on his Podcast, ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq‘. Speaking about the Buffalo Bills and how they will bounce back from the terrifying experience, the 42-year-old laid out a stark insight into the life of an elite athlete.

Spice Adams knows the Bills will play for Damar Hamlin
Adams believes that the Bills will have to move on get focused on the next game. According to him, it’s not something that they’ll find hard to do as well. “That’s what we [are] conditioned to do as athletes like we block out pain.” Adams continued. “Whether that’s emotional, whether it’s physical, whatever it is, we block it out and we just go out and you know play the game. So I’m pretty sure they’re gonna play for Damar Hamlin just as we played for Thomas Herrion.”

Thomas Herrion was a teammate of Adams in the San Francisco 49ers. In 2005, Herrion collapsed in the locker room following a preseason game in Denver. The player was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

“If you sign a contract to play football, that’s what you do. You play football.” Adams continued. “We just block everything else out and it’s not it’s not healthy, but it’s just that’s what we do.”

Unfortunately, the Bills lost their number 1 seeding this past week to the Kansas City Chiefs. Their game with the Cincinnati Bengals was postponed and later canceled. Leaving the team one game behind the AFC West division champions.
Josh Allen and the Bills will have one opportunity to earn their spot back. The team will play against the New England Patriots, which will be a must win for them. While they have clinched the AFC East division already, a Bye week could really help the team. But right now it appears to be going to the MVP front runner and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

However, looking at the larger picture, it is safe to say that the Bills will be happy for their teammate, Damar Hamlin, no matter what the result on Sunday may be.
