Despite interest from multiple teams before the trade deadline, Breece Hall is a New York Jet. The franchise reportedly set an asking price so steep that no rival front office was willing to meet it. Yet just as talks seemed to heat up, a surprising development within the organization changed everything. One that now coincides with a stunning million-dollar projection for his next contract.

Analysts estimate that if Hall plays out his rookie deal, he could still earn in the range of $8 million to $9 million per year, which will only increase with time. If Hall were to forgo an extension and play out his contract to become a free agent, he stands to amass a truly massive contract, according to ESPN’s latest free-agent projections. This would potentially mirror the four-year, $48 million deal that Josh Jacobs signed in March 2024.
Through nine games of the 2025 season, Breece Hall has totaled 138 carries for 664 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with 22 receptions for 220 receiving yards and one touchdown. His mix of power, speed, and receiving ability has made him the centerpiece of New York’s offense. This is exactly why it would seem that defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn intervened to keep Hall from being moved.

One of the most notable inquiries came from the Houston Texans, who, according to Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle, made calls to bolster their rushing attack. The talks centered on Hall, but the deal quickly fell apart. The Jets’ demand was simply too high for what Houston viewed as a rental option, leading them to back out of the proposed trade.
The underlying complexity of the Breece Hall situation lies in his contract, which is set to expire after the 2026 season. For a team like the Jets, entertaining a trade could prove fruitful. Moving a highly productive player now could yield draft picks or younger, long-term talent that contribute to the team for a greater duration.

Aaron Glenn stands firm on Breece Hall trade
Despite the New York Jets‘ willingness to entertain offers from other clubs, the interest around the league in acquiring Hall remained a real possibility. This was the case even after Aaron Glenn’s attempts to publicly shoot down the rumors. As USA TODAY reported:
“Multiple NFL teams remain interested in Hall.”

While the Jets’ front office was clearly ready to shake up the roster, it was becoming clear that trading Breece Hall was a line Coach Glenn was not prepared to cross. He directly addressed this.
“Breece was not a guy I wanted to get rid of. He’s a damn good player. Any of those (reports) that came out, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Underdog NFL posted on X.

The situation became interesting following Hall’s own frustrated comments and cryptic social media activity. After defensive cornerstone Sauce Gardner was traded, Hall wasted no time. He went online, posting a GIF that made it clear he was watching every single move the Jets were making.
Now, with the chaos settled, a new development enters with the next season’s speculation on the cards. There are reasons to believe that the huge $48 million total contract could certainly materialize. Hall’s ability to secure that kind of market-defining deal will hinge entirely on how well he performs from here on. He has been under the spotlight, particularly given the inconsistencies the Jets’ offense has shown this season.
