As a junior, Claire Pease had a star written all over her. Just before she became a senior, she had come off an excellent AA performance in the U.S. National Championships, grabbing gold after dominating the bars and beams. It took her some time to settle in as a senior in 2025. But her performance in the U.S. Classic 2025, a few weeks ago, not only raised the ‘bars’ for her, but also the expectations. Going into the 2025 Xfinity Championships, everyone expected her to dominate the Senior Women’s division. But after two days of routine, that has not been the case.

The U.S. Gymnastics official X account shared a tweet featuring the live scores from the event. It showed the complete list of all the top performers in every category. Unfortunately, the only list where Pease stood out (second) was the beams, where she finished with a score of 13.900 behind Hezly Rivera’s 14.350. To everyone’s surprise, she finished way down the list in vault, one category where everyone expected her to perform well in the championship.

Vault is where Claire has consistently performed well ever since she transitioned from a junior to a senior gymnast. She also won a gold medal for the same during the U.S. Classics a few days ago, which eventually helped her get the all-around gold for the event.

Pease also struggled on the floor and bars, which further pushed her down the all-around list in the Xfinity Championships 2025.

As it turns out, after a strong performance on the beam, the 16-year-old had a rough landing while performing the Silivas on the floor. There are concerns about a foot injury as well. There are no updates on the situation yet, but it was evident that the incident hindered her performance for the remaining day.

Meanwhile, Pease’s performance and potential injury received a strong reaction from the community.

Claire Pease’s performance at The Glen leaves fans concerned

It’s never a great sight to watch an athlete injure themselves during their performance. It’s even worse when they are as popular as Claire Pease. After watching the incident, one fan immediately dropped by on X to tweet, “OH NO! Claire Pease crashed on her Silivas. I’m devastated! Great 1.5 + Rudi. Phenom leap sequence. Solid double pike. I’m kind of enchanted by the mesmerizing music. OOf she stumbled out of the wolf turn. Fine 2.5, but not the routine she wanted!!!! Ugh! :(.” It seems that the fan was intently watching the Xfinity Championships as they perfectly described when Pease had the accident. Trying to complete her routine on the floor with a Silivas, the 16-year-old couldn’t land on her legs after the second somersault and may have injured her ankle.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Claire Pease's injury at Xfinity Champs reveal cracks in her armor, or is she still a rising star?

Have an interesting take?

Someone probably also had the sound on high when they were watching it, as they commented, “Crunchy DTY for Claire Pease. 🙁 Come on, Claire!” You could hear the foot twist after Pease landed on the floor and lost her balance for a second. Hopefully, she hasn’t sustained a serious injury.

Concerned about Claire’s ankle, another fan wrote, “Wellness check on Claire Pease’s ankles today ouch.” Hopefully, they and all of us get an update about her well-being soon.

Then, just looking at the scoreboard, one of the followers could say, “I didn’t see Claire Pease’s but based on the score of just 13.300 it seems something went wrong. Not great since she was already kind of in a hole after floor.” While the bad landing did affect her performance on the day, hopefully, it doesn’t change the trajectory of her amazing career.

Despite the sensitive situation, one fan couldn’t help but commend Claire Pease for her incredible performance at the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships 2025 in New Orleans. While also highlighting the incident, they wrote, “Ouch girl. Despite that first pass- what beautiful footwork. Turn out on every step. Great attention to details by Claire Pease. #XfinityChamps.” While she may have tumbled down the leaderboard, there is no question that Pease is a star in the making. Her performance, despite a possible injury, showcased just how brave and brilliant she is today.
