Jonathan Owens is all ready for his second stint with the Chicago Bears. Picked by the Bears last season, both Owens and the team had a forgettable outing. However, starting afresh this year, the Bears are looking forward to a spirited run. Meanwhile, as Owens is sweating it out under the sun, he is being kept a close eye on by his biggest fan. And that is none other than Simone Biles.

Simone Biles has been posting updates about her NFL beau recently. Showing up in a graphic, ‘The Smashing Pumpkins’ tee, Biles uploaded the picture on her Instagram story with the caption reading “FRESH.” But that was not the end of Biles’ display of affection for Owens. In a recent video posted on her Instagram story, the Olympic gold medalist shared a video of Owens in Bears’ jersey. As the Bears’ star approached Biles, the duo shared a passionate kiss. And to mark it as a special moment, Biles captioned the story with “i love you.”

Now, then, Biles travelling to Chicago to support her beau has been the norm for the fans. But what she would want to change this time around is how Owens and his team would fare. Kicking off their preseason, the Bears faced off against the Miami Dolphins. The team decided to rest most of its starters for the game. However, the game was an evenly contested one. With Owens sitting out, the clash ended in a 24-24 draw.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears must look to work on the internal harmony among themselves. Building up to the season, the team witnessed unusual physicality during training. And much to the dread of Simone Biles and her fans, Jonathan Owens was pretty much in the center of the brawl.

Jonathan Owens Heats Things Up With Roschon Johnson

Jonathan Owens and Roschon Johnson did not merely pass each other in the course of routine practice on that day. Their interaction became the focal point of the session when Owens, in a decisive move, executed a late peanut punch on Johnson in an effort to dislodge the ball. For the uninitiated, this maneuver is a recognized defensive method intended to create a fumble, yet it can provoke an immediate and visceral reaction from the ball carrier. Johnson’s reply was unambiguous: he hurled the ball directly at Owens.

The incident quickly shifted from a challenge for possession to a physical confrontation. What began as a single gesture escalated into shoving, with Johnson ultimately taking Owens to the turf. The scene drew swift intervention from teammates and coaching staff, who separated the two before the matter could intensify further. The brief but forceful clash was not accompanied by lingering tension, at least according to Johnson. Speaking afterwards, he characterised the encounter in plain terms, he added, “That’s just camp, football. High tempers flare, getting competitive, that’s all it was.”

No formal consequences have followed for either player, allowing Owens to maintain his preparations for the approaching season. The defensive back, entering his second year with Chicago after previous seasons with Houston and Green Bay, remains in active training. Johnson, for his part, was seen sprinting along the sideline soon after the exchange, signaling that any physical effects were negligible. While the moment drew attention for its intensity, it was, as Johnson noted, part of the combustible nature of high-level sport, where the line between practice and competition can briefly dissolve.

Can Jonathan Owens turn his Bears stint around with Simone Biles cheering him on from the sidelines?
