Waste Management Phoenix Open is back in its full glory as this time there will be no restrictions on the audience. The tournament has become one of the most awaited events in the history of the PGA Tour. The defending champion of 2021, Brooks Koepka, will be the highlight of the event, considering he has won two times out of the four appearances he made at this event. Although all eyes would be on him to know whether he can defend the title or not, he is not on the top list of possible winners.

The People’s Open would be an eye-pleasing event since 17 out of the top 30 golfers in the world will be competing against each other. Top contenders include World No. 1, Jon Rahm, No. 4 Patrick Cantlay, the Olympic Champion Xander Schauffele, multiple-time top 10 finishers Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, and Bubba Watson.

The course, prize money, and more about the People’s Open

Like every year since 1987, TPC Scottsdale will host the event this year. It is a 71-par 7,200-yard course. The course is known to produce the longest average driving distance of any course on the PGA TOUR each year; 305 yards. The course is considered the third most predictive course on the Tour, as the same players have found success multiple times.

Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama have won the title twice in the last seven years. Koepka won in 2021 and 2015, while Hideki won in 2016 and 2017. The tournament has a prize purse of $8.2 million, and the winner will get $1,476,000 and 500 FedEx points.
