Following the arrival of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, the squad is going through wholesale changes. Players are leaving the soccer club while fresh additions are being made to the team. David Beckham looked delighted to welcome the World Cup winner to the squad in a deal that shocked the world. As a result, Becks has begun strengthening the squad. His first step? Packing the bags of a $661,000-rated goalkeeper, who condemned the team with startling observations.

Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman earlier spoke about how the club was not ready for a player like Messi. And the Manchester United icon wasted no time stamping his authority and dealing with the player. Now, he looks to bring in another Argentine national to fill his place.

Beckham took no chances with Marsman as he ripped up his contract and focused on Franco Armani to take his spot. Marsman joined Inter Miami in April 2021 and played 32 games for the club. Beckham has received positive news from the Armani camp as his agent, Martin Araoz, spoke about Inter Miami’s interest in the goalkeeper. He could bring valuable experience to the club, which is leaking goals quite alarmingly.

Beckham wants to create a change, and Marsman’s opinions about Messi’s arrival seem to have annoyed him. The goalkeeper stated, “I personally think that this club is not ready for Messi’s arrival. We have a temporary stadium. People can just walk on the pitch. There are no gates. We also leave for the stadium without security. I think they aren’t ready. But I hope he comes.”

His contract will now be terminated, with Armani looking to join the club. Armani, meanwhile, has made 19 appearances for Argentina. He played with Messi notably during the 2018 World Cup as they got kicked out in the round of 16 by eventual champions France. He also made the squad for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. With the addition of the Argentine keeper, Miami seems to be concerned about barricading their gates and stopping any goals from creeping in.

Although Messi has arrived with much fanfare, Inter Miami is conceding far too many goals. They allowed four goals against FC Dallas in the round of 16 matches of the Leagues Cup, only to advance through a penalty shoot-out. Messi’s former teammate Jordi Alba has arrived, but he is a complete wing-back who prefers to attack.

Having solid defenders would help the unit, as Armani fits the bill perfectly. He is an able shot-stopper and distributes the ball well. Accordingly, Beckham looks to get in a solid first-choice goalkeeper to replace Marsman, whose Inter Miami career has unceremoniously ended. Do you think Armani will come up with the goods?
