Francis Ngannou exiting from the UFC has made waves in the MMA community. He has now planned to pursue a boxing career. UFC critic and MMA analyst Chael Sonnen has presented his own take on the situation in a recent video posted on his YouTube channel. He has taken Conor McGregor and his boxing ventures into consideration to draw parallels between the two athletes.
According to UFC brass, Francis Ngannou refused to re-sign with the premier MMA promotion despite receiving several revised and updated contracts from the UFC execs. ‘The Predator’ wants to fight boxing legend Tyson Fury and has stated that UFC’s contract includes the terms for him to be able to pursue boxing.

Chael Sonnen’s comparison between Francis Ngannou and Conor McGregor
Chael Sonnen believes that Francis Ngannou‘s decision to box stems from Conor McGregor‘s match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He also mentions McGregor never asked Dana White to add the terms that Francis Ngannou wants to add to his contract. “Where did you get that idea, by the way, that you’re gonna go box? Oh! you got it from McGregor [Conor] when he did go do it. He did it with Mayweather,” said Sonnen. He also mentioned that a boxing match was a big deal.

Chael Sonnen also reiterated how McGregor got to his fight with Mayweather. “Conor became the champion of the world and that spurred some surprising interest from Floyd Mayweather and the boxing community,” said ‘The American Gangster’. He added, “It was a very valuable thing to have, the UFC champion of the world …He was [two-division] simultaneous champion of the world.”
Sonnen also mentioned McGregor‘s loyalty to the UFC; by claiming that the former double champion did whatever UFC had asked him to do. He said, “Everything that Conor was ever asked to do, he said yes. They could trust him. They like working with him.” Sonnen went on to state that the UFC owed McGregor for all his services.
