Penn could be better than ‘The Eagle’.

Joe Rogan calls “prime” B. J. Penn the best lightweight

During the recent ‘JRE Fight Companion’ episode, Joe Rogan, Brendan Schaub, Bryan Callen, and Sam Tripoli got into a little debate. They wanted to know who the real ‘GOAT’ of UFC is. While they mentioned some of the most obvious names, Rogan brought up the Hall of Famer B. J. Penn’s name. Moreover, he warned his guests not to forget how good the former lightweight champion was when he was in his prime.

“Don’t ever forget BJ Penn in his prime. People remember BJ Penn towards the end of his career,” said Rogan. He also mentioned how destructive Penn was during his younger years and how much he’d achieved at the peak of his MMA career. While many people talk about the closing stages of his career, Joe Rogan asked them to forget about and talk about his prime phase.

The 56-year-old added, “You’ve got to forget about that and just look at the man when he was at his very best. He was a motherf***er.” However, Joe Rogan earlier claimed that Khabib Nurmagomedov was the real lightweight great of all time. Let’s take a look at his earlier claim.

Joe Rogan, in an older episode of his podcast, mentioned how Khabib Nurmagomedov was better than even Jon Jones. The fact that ‘The Eagle’ showcases pure dominance during his fights inevitably made him one of Rogan’s favorite fighters. He claimed that the fact that Nurmagomedov always tries to render his opponents helpless makes him the ‘GOAT’.

Joe Rogan also mentioned how Khabib Nurmagomedov destroyed Conor McGregor and dominated Justin Gaethje, who are already masters of their own game. Hence, the UFC commentator earlier claimed his fighting style and being on top with an undefeated streak of 29 wins makes him one of the greatest lightweights of all time.

There is no doubt that both B. J. Penn and Khabib Nurmagomedov have achieved numerous monumental accolades in their respective careers.
