Chael Sonnen shares his opinion on UFC superstars
On his podcast, the former UFC fighter has shared some insights into what he thinks about McGregor claiming to return to UFC at 185. Sonnen spoke about a hypothetical scenario involving his arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. Sonnen said, “If Khabib announced he was coming back, and he was going to do it at 185. Whoa! Just the 185 before we even get to the opponent. Whoa! We got headline news.”
On the contrary, he explained ‘The Notorious’ situation as, “Conor can’t just go to 185. We want to see you fight at your weight class. We’re not sure that you can beat these guys. Do you want to stop at 170, that’s pretty interesting.”

Moreover, the loud-mouthed even suggested a prospect for the Irishman, “Let’s grab Masvidal. Things aren’t going just swimmingly in his career. Let’s get you guys together I mean there’s a level of proof that you need but if you have the arrogance to believe you can go to 185 pounds and people are going to come along just because you’re going to be bloomed up and somehow that’s interesting.”
Furthermore, Sonnen also explained some of his personal experiences in a similar situation. He gave his two cents to the former two-division champion. He explained, “Gotta tell you about the time that I tried to fight Daniel Cormier. I got a real hard talk and I’m thinking maybe it’s time we sit down and we have the same talk.”
