Former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo is set to make his return to the octagon at UFC 288. He will fight against Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title. ‘The Messenger’ retired in 2020. However, he was recently announced as a part of the UFC roster, which he claims is going to put the UFC roster in a tough predicament.

Cejudo has a rather similar story to Jon Jones as he will also be returning to the octagon after almost 3 years of inactivity. The former Olympic Gold Medalist mentioned that he would be hanging up his gloves after winning his title defense against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. People speculated that the news of the retirement could have been a ploy for the UFC to sign ‘The Messenger’ to a much more lucrative contract.

Cejudo‘s warning to the UFC roster comes in the wake of his reason to return to UFC. He appeared in an interview with ESPN last year. He told them that he is aiming to become the first-ever three-division champion in the UFC. Cejudo also mentioned that he wanted to fight the reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski to achieve that feat. As such, he will seek to move up in the weight class after his fight against ‘Funk Master’.

‘Triple C’ also talked about his decision to leave the UFC in one of his YouTube videos. He stated that he wanted to achieve something that nobody has ever done. ‘The Messenger’ wants to break his own record. It would be a historic moment not only for the UFC but for the former Olympic Gold Medalist as well if he manages to win his third gold in the promotion.
