Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor had one of the most intense rivalries in recent memory. They fought three times, out of which ‘The Diamond’ won twice. Recently, Poirier shed light on the idea of fighting the Irishman again and mentioned one reason why he’d consider a fourth showdown.

The last time Conor McGregor fought inside the Octagon was against Dustin Poirier. ‘The Diamond’ secured a TKO win after McGregor broke his leg in the very first round. Despite the loss, McGregor screamed on the microphone that it was not over. Now, Poirier has opened up on his thoughts about another fight against ‘The Notorious’. Let’s see what he had to say.

‘The Diamond’ was recently seen in attendance at UFC Vegas 82. ESPN’s Megan Olivi caught hold of him after the event. She mentioned how Conor McGregor stated that he wasn’t done with Poirier after the trilogy fight and if the former interim champion had thought of fighting him again. Poirier stated that the only reason he’d consider fighting McGregor again is to shut him up for good.

However, he was also sure of the fact that Conor McGregor would continue his trash talk and antics, even if he lost to ‘The Diamond’ for a third time. Poirier added, “But even if I slap his a** around again, he’s still gonna be chatting.”

Dustin Poirier then asked Megan Olivi if the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was official. He seemed to have no idea about it. However, the  34-year-old believes that a fight against his former rival could prove to be a big one, although he does not see a reason to look forward to that fight. “Two in one against him. I don’t really see another reason for it. But it’d be a huge fight,” Poirier added. Meanwhile, let us take a look at what lies ahead for McGregor.

Is ‘The Notorious’ going to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 300?

Conor McGregor has been constantly teasing his return at UFC 300 after entering the USADA’s testing pool. The initial plans for his comeback were against Michael Chandler, who was his opposition coach on ‘The Ultimate Fighter 31’. The fight was supposed to take place this year, but McGregor’s USADA troubles stopped that from happening. But there are rumors that the fight may take place at UFC 300. However, that may not be the case.

Dana White recently announced the three big title fights for the first three pay-per-views of 2024. However, there were no signs of Conor McGregor. Moreover, when the UFC CEO was asked about ‘The Notorious’ return date for the fight against Chandler, he stated that the date is yet to be fixed. This has created a lot of uncertainty around McGregor’s return.

Conor McGregor is arguably the biggest MMA star in the world. People love to see him in action and even witness his antics during press conferences. As such, there are multiple speculations surrounding the Irishman’s return. But we will have to wait for further developments concerning his comeback since there is no announcement regarding that yet.
