UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defended her throne at UFC 261 against Jessica Andrade in a dominant fashion. Shevchenko earned a second-round stoppage over her Brazilian counterpart and managed to retain her throne.
Many have touted ‘Bullet’ to fight the two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes, next. Fans and experts believe that is the only fight that makes sense for either fighter and will be a tough challenge for both. Shevchenko also said that even though she doesn’t know what future beholds for her, her firm belief is that the Nunes fight will happen in the future.

“No one can know for sure what’s gonna happen in the future. But you know, from the other side, I just feel it’s gonna happen and without like, putting all this like pressure to someone. Okay, let’s do it now. It’s like, everything good. In a good time. That’s why it’s gonna happen. I know for sure. But probably when time is will be like perfect time for this fight, it’s gonna it’s for this fight. It’s gonna happen,” said Shevchenko.
“And you know, it’s like, I cannot force someone ‘Okay, let’s go fight me’ if someone don’t want to fight to have this fight. No one can force no one, right? Yeah. And why I’m feeling like not rushing and not like, doing much this stuff. I just feel it’s gonna happen without like, extra power because if like, as I say in every time we continue successful in our own like division, weight class division is gonna be just only one fight. That makes sense,” ‘Bullet’ added further.

Should the UFC book Valentina Shevchenko vs Amanda Nunes 3?
‘Bullet‘ and ‘The Lioness‘ have fought twice inside the Octagon with Nunes coming out on top on both occasions via decision. However, those decisions are very controversial as fans are certain Shevchenko won at least one fight. One can understand how Nunes won the first contest, but the decision of the second contest remains questionable to this day.
So, it’s only fitting they fight one more time to decide the best women’s fighter of all time. And under current circumstances, they are the only valid challenger for each.
