

Joe Rogan has proven to be a big Marvel fan, multiple times. The famed UFC commentator not only followed the cinematic universe closely but also invited some major personalities to his podcast. He invited the man who played Iron Man himself, once. But recently, in episode #1911, the podcaster featured a well-known screenwriter and producer, Mark Boal. However, Boal made Rogan realize that not everything that one fancies about turns out the expected way.

The JRE is a show that covers a wide range of topics. Discussion about films and superheroes is no exception when the guest is the showrunner of ‘Echo 3’. However, Boal made a revelation that took away the Marvel fans’ breaths.

Marvel’s movies are industrial products
Mark Boal revealed that nobody ever asked him to shepherd an industrial product while giving the example of Spiderman. This was the thing that piqued Joe Rogan’s interest during the podcast. Although Rogan believed it would be a great story, Boal knew that the realities lie elsewhere.

The screenwriter said, “Yeah, it’d be a good story, but they don’t want that.” Furthermore, he reasoned that the companies now have playbooks. He added, “You’re just like ‘dude, here’s how we do it’. We have a, we have a playbook. Okay, it’s worked every f**king time. And we’re going to do the same playbook again and, and I’d be like, well yeah, but can we change up and what if we made it more realistic and what if we try to make it more authentic? They’d be like bro. We’re selling toys for the kids.”

Rogan was indeed taken aback. He said, “They are, but adults watch it, too. That would be the temptation.”

However, Boal’s words revealed the truth about Marvel. He said, “Those systems, they’re factories, you know. So, I had a hard enough time just making this at Apple. So, I don’t, I mean not that they weren’t great, not talking any sh*t about them. But those are really industrial products when you go and watch a marvel movie.”

Joe Rogan doesn’t like Hawkeye
Rogan‘s choice of superheroes is somewhat different from the others. Referring to the 2012 movie, Avengers, he made a comment about one of his least-liked superheroes from the original team. He revealed that he didn’t like Hawkeye. His dislike even led him to brand the character as “stupid Marvel character”.

The podcaster compared the archer’s strengths to that of the other heroes and was greatly disappointed. While characters like The Hulk and Dr. Strange could do so much, the hero shooting arrows at aliens turned Rogan down.
