Joe Rogan Approves as Fan Favorite Amanda Ribas Asks Dana White for Former Strawweight Champion After Incredible Result at UFC 285

With the world still excited about Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane battling each other in the main event of UFC 285, the prelims did nothing but add to the anticipation. The Brazilian, the #44 top fan favorite MMA fighter, Amanda Ribas (11-3-0) defeated the #10 best female flyweight fighter and fellow Brazilian, Viviane Araujo (11-5-0), at the prelims of UFC 285. 

Official Decision: Amanda Ribas wins via unanimous decision (29-27, 30-26, 30-27)

Being one of the three bouts for women in UFC 285, Araujo versus Ribas had the effect that ensured the fans stayed with their eyes open wide with awe. Although the fight proceeded with severe action, the mixed martial arts fans took to social media and shared their opinion about the fight.

UFC world opens up to Ribas vs. Araujo at UFC 285

The bout began both the fighters exchanging strikes. Soon after, Ribas attempted a takedown. However, ‘Vivi’ took Ribas inside her guard, which quickly shifted to Ribas controlling the ground with a half-guard. Undeniably, Araujo showcased her strength as she kept on shrimping and attempting to escape. The two got to their feet quickly and exchanged a few more blows. 

As the second round commenced, Ribas became a bit more aggressive and her cross made contact with ‘Vivi’ sending her off balance. Ribas quickly took the fight to the ground and tried to submit with a failed attempt at an arm triangle. With about sixty seconds left, Ribas took Araujo’s back and gained control of the ground till the sound of the bell resonated.

The final round began with a seemingly tired Araujo, trying her best to defend herself and exchange punches. However, Ribas kept on dominating with sneaky knees weaved in between her combos. Ribas executed a single-leg takedown, but unfortunately, let her left arm vulnerable to an armbar. She recovered quickly and kept dominating till the end of the round.

Not only the mixed martial arts fans but also the MMA professionals had a lot to say as Ribas exchanged blows with ‘Vivi’. However, Ribas’ victory was indeed commendable. Joe Rogan definitely approved, as Ribas asked Dana White for a fight against Carla Esparza
