After finishing off Justin Gaethje in round one and extending his win streak to 11, Charles Oliveira proved why he deserves to keep his belt. Just like he did to Dustin Poirier, ‘Do Bronx’ took Gaethje’s back and made him tap after an aggressive three-minute effort at UFC 274.

Although the Brazilian won, he did not leave Arizona as the champion due to a controversial weight miss. Many fans still consider him the champion, but he is undoubtedly the best active lightweight.

UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is arguably the lightweight division G.O.A.T., recently called out Oliveira. Not to fight him, but to take on his teammate, Islam Makhachev, for the lightweight belt.

“Is there really a more interesting duel in the UFC at the moment than Islam vs. Charles? Just bring these fighters to Abu Dhabi on October 22nd. Let the undisputed champion be determined,” tweeted Nurmagomedov. (Translation via Google Translate)

The best fighters in the world have been no match to Oliveira in the octagon. They even seem tentative to engage with the all-time leader for UFC submission wins.

Many believe that Islam Makhachev’s wrestling skills could be the only weapon that stands a chance to bring an end to Oliveira’s monstrous win streak. ‘The Eagle’ is one of them, and a fight between ‘Do Bronx’ and Makhachev would be a barn burner. It makes sense as they have the longest active win streaks at lightweight.

Fans react to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s tweet

The internet reacted to the former champion’s impressive and massive win against Justin Gaethje.

Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s undefeated record positions him as the greatest lightweight fighter of all time, and Oliveira’s current form is threatening his GOAT status. The Russian has acknowledged Oliveira’s talent but has no intention of making a comeback.

Ahead of UFC 254, Khabib made a promise to his mother that he would not return to fighting again. To date, he stands by his word and no attempts seem to change his mind. Sadly, fans may never get to witness this super fight.
