Khamzat Chimaev was poised to make his run for a title shot, but fate played the spoilsport for the undefeated fighter. A hand injury and skin infection sidelined him for a month, prompting Dana White to award the title shot at UFC 297 to the South African sensation, Dricus Du Plessis. Chimaev, in fury, made comments asserting that he should be the one in the fight as promised. This irked ‘Stillknocks.’

Du Plessis, in a conversation, stated that Chimaev did not belong in the middleweight division, and his call for the title shot was as horrendous. The middleweight contender believes that ‘Borz’ has to fight more in the division to stake a claim on the title, and this statement by Du Plessis seems to have annoyed ‘The Wolf.’

So, what exactly did Chimaev say that irked Du Plessis so much? Chimaev claimed that the UFC administration had promised him a match against the winner of Strickland vs. Du Plessis. ‘Stillknocks’ was just surprised by ‘Borz’s statement.

While having a conversation with MMA Junkie, the middleweight contender said, “As far as I know Khamzat’s a welterweight. What middleweight did he fight? He fought at middleweight, but he fought a welterweight. Gerald Meerschaert? When was that? Was he even ranked? No, he wasn’t ranked. So, that makes absolutely no sense.”
