In response, Smith explained that he was never really worried about this issue, as he was relaxed on his back thanks to his background in jiu-jitsu. However, Smith does mention that the Cezar Ferreira fight was difficult due to Ferreira‘s repeated takedowns without much grappling. Although he mentioned that he was more hesitant with Roger Gracie, a formidable BJJ fighter.

He said, “I watched Tim Kennedy do it and I don’t think Tim Kennedy was any better of a Grappler than me. I think he, he just was smarter and decided that Hydra Gracie is not a 47-time world champion from his back.”

“He’s a top-pressure guy. So once he was on top it was, it was, it was like it was done.”
