Former Interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is someone who fighters have a hard time liking, mainly because of the persona that he puts up. Hence, it was not surprising to see fighters celebrate his loss against Leon Edwards at UFC 296. Among them was the UFC lightweight, Michael Chandler.

Chandler was critical of Colby Covington’s performance at UFC 296. He mocked the welterweight and implied that Covington would be moved to the prelims after the lackluster performance. Covington, being who he is, went on to berate Chandler, who has now fired back in kind.

In the PBD podcast, Colby Covington pulled no punches berating fellow UFC fighter, Michael Chandler. Covington stated, “That guy was getting knocked out in Bellator… What’s his UFC record? Like 1-4? We’re talking about that? My win percentage in the UFC is like over 90%, it’s just, I’m an all-time great in this division.”

“He can keep talking all he wants But, there’s no substance. Just another guy who is all talk, no walk,” stated Covington, implying that Chandler isn’t at his level.

Michael Chandler responded with a tweet that stated, “I’d respond to @ColbyCovMMA but I’m fearful of his ambulance chancing, cut-rate attorney… have enough on my plate….I don’t need a bogus defamation suit based on my accurate tweets. Fighters don’t sue fighters for fighting. How’s your “brain damage” kid?”

The two fighters certainly have enough animosity to put on a great build-up for the fight fans. However, Michael Chandler might have his hands full, as he might have a fight lined up for him at UFC 300.

With Dana White gearing up to announce the fights for UFC 300, which is scheduled for April 13th, two fighters are more restless than others. Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler are looking to fight at UFC 300. However, Chandler seems skeptical about whether the fight will actually take place.

The ex-Bellator champion now seems to be eying a different fight against Nathan Diaz as he replied to a tweet saying, “Hold tight. I’d love to crack your jaw. Things are unclear with that former fighter who is masquerading as a real fighter,” taking a jab at McGregor while setting up for a fight against Nate Diaz.
