Ngannou fought only once in 2020. It was a 20-second long appearance at UFC 249 as he knocked out Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a devastating fashion. ‘The Predator‘ has been eyeing for his rematch against champion Miocic for a considerable amount of time now.
The champion too made only a single appearance last year. He successfully defended his throne at UFC 252 against Daniel Cormier and has been out ever since.
But with the rise of hungry contenders, the division needs some clarity. Ngannou has proved himself worthy of getting a rematch and has earned his shot at the belt.
Also, former light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones’s move up to the division is on the horizon. He is expected to make his much anticipated divisional debut in 2021. ‘Bones‘ will get a title shot right away against the winner of Miocic vs Ngannou.

Miocic and Ngannou shared the Octagon at UFC 220. ‘The Predator’ was on the rise back then, but Miocic, being the experienced veteran he is applied his game plan to full use. He controlled Ngannou by using his wrestling to good effect.
‘The Predator’ was visibly exhausted after the first two rounds and lost his knockout prowess. The Ohio native went on to win a dominant unanimous decision. However, ‘The Predator’ has evolved and knows what he must do differently in their second meeting.
