The UFC commentator has been active in MMA for decades. His black belt in Jujitsu and Taekwondo has amassed him a professional vision of combat sports and gives him the insight to break down the events at a micro level. Due to his connections and image with the UFC, he often hosts several high-ranked MMA athletes on his podcast. In one such recent episode, he discusses the Main event of UFC 284.

Volkanovski will be jumping up a division to challenge for the lightweight title. Moreover, he currently sits on top of the P4P ranking in the entire promotion. This alone makes him one of the most dangerous fights in the entire division.
On the other hand, Islam Makhachev has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the division himself. He reached the promised land by becoming the lightweight champion defeating Charles Oliveira on the way.
Although Makhachev will probably face the biggest challenge of his life in Volkanovski.
Joe Rogan has serious concerns for Islam Makhachev
UFC 284 will feature Islam Makhachev making his first title defense against ‘The Great’ in the octagon. Moreover, fans will be heavily invested in this event as it has many brilliant fights lined up. Being the talk of the town, Joe Rogan could not help but discuss the fight with his guest Sean O’Malley in his recent podcast.

He questioned whether Makhachev has faced anyone who is agile as the no.1 P4P fighter in UFC. Moreover, he also says that Makhachev is quite big for his weight class and doesn’t know how he managed to make the weight cut, he doesn’t look like a 155 lb fighter. In addition, he believes that he got the ‘perfect physique’ for the lightweight division.

He said, “The thing is the grappling. If you look at Volkanovski, he’s got really good take-down defense and he can take guys down. He took Max Holloway down a bunch, but he’s not the biggest guy even at ’45.”
