But Chimaev revealed that issues with the event taking place during ‘Ramadan’ will affect his availability for the card. ‘Borz’s involvement in the UFC 300 card had picked up when during an episode of The MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani claimed that the undefeated fighter was being considered by the UFC executives to be a part of UFC 300.

However, due to the holy month of Ramadan concluding just days before the massive UFC event, Chimaev spoke about his involvement in the card in an interview with MMA Uncensored where he stated, “I think Ramadan [is during] UFC 300. Maybe somebody in Saudi Arabia. I want to fight there. Not fighting in Ramadan anymore”

As such, Belal Muhammad, the #2 ranked welterweight and member of Team Khabib, took to Instagram to stake his claim at the opportunity Chimaev passed up. He posted a picture of himself facing off against welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, with the caption, “Ufc 300, 301.320 , Ramadan , tomorrow, next week ..date doesn’t matter #ANDNEW”

Muhammad has competed during Ramadan throughout his professional career and in an interview back in 2018 he revealed, “Like in high school, I played football and I always trained around Ramadan…” This exchange underscores the complexities of scheduling in MMA and the personal choices fighters make in balancing their careers with religious observances.

However, Chimaev’s lack of activity has been a concern for all UFC enthusiasts and a former UFC middleweight contender recently revealed that he has a solution for ‘Borz’!

Chimaev handed an intriguing solution to his problems

Chael Sonnen recently shared his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev’s lack of fights lately. Chimaev fought only once in 2023, winning against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294. ‘Borz’ had also claimed the win promised him a title shot at the middleweight champion but Dricus Du Plessis was given the opportunity instead and he took the title away from Sean Strickland at UFC 297.

And so, speaking on his YouTube channel, Sonnen addressed the issues with Chimaev’s lack of activity in the promotion. He stated, “There is a rumor on Chimaev that he cannot get anywhere we currently set up that Octagon aside from Fight Island. If that rumor is not true, he needs to make that clear…”

Therefore, Sonnen urged Chimaev to clarify the situation and he also offered to help him get a title shot if he was honest about his status. He also encouraged Chimaev to be more open about his situation and engage in public discussions and interviews to be more visible to the fans of the sport! These insights shed more light on the challenges ‘Borz’ may be facing and the potential avenues for resolution moving forward in his MMA career.
