Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has one of the most likable personalities in MMA. The Australian star is a formidable force in the cage and a gentle soul outside of it. A man of principles and values, Whittaker does not compromise on either of those for any material gains. Recently, he reiterated that point via an Instagram post that garnered commendations from several figures in the MMA community.
In his post, Whittaker talked about the importance of being true to oneself. The former champion spoke against selling out for any reason whatsoever. “Don’t be a sellout. If you have to be a sellout, don’t do it,” he said in the clip, “Don’t be something you’re not. I’d rather be myself as a bricklayer than be someone else as a multi-millionaire.”

Following are some of the comments from the fans under the post:
- Australia’s finest
- Unfortunately the UFC doesn’t reward strong morals, values, or integrity anymore. Bobby Knuckles is a refreshing standout from the current roster of WWE wannabes.
- Colby Covington punching the air rn
- Everyone is selling out. Shout out to you for letting the fight speak for itself
- I mean you lay bricks on peoples faces for a living so in this case you’re both a brick layer and a millionaire.
- The most humble and respectful fighter! Not Khabib.
- Then quit ufc and go be a bricklayer. There are limitations to the message.
Whittaker last fought in September 2022 against Marvin Vettori. The #2 ranked middleweight is patiently waiting for a fight after the UFC could not negotiate a deal with Paulo Costa to fight him.
