Watch: Joe Rogan & Israel Adesanya Celebrate “Winner” Alexander Volkanovski Before the Final Bell Against Islam Makhachev at UFC 284

The UFC community all around the world was eagerly awaiting the fight between the UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, and the lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. UFC 284 witnessed a spectacular match between the two champions. It was a back-and-forth match that put the audience on the edge of their seats. Before UFC 284, both fighters had just suffered a single loss since the beginning of their fighting careers. Hence, the audience and the MMA fighters had a tough time predicting the winner. 

However, as the fight got over, Islam Makhachev emerged victorious via unanimous decision after round five. Until Makhachev’s hand was raised, many failed to find out the outcome of the bout, as it was a highly close affair. Nonetheless, Makhachev’s victory paved the way for outrage among many fans and fellow fighters. At the moment, two videos are circulating on social media where the 55-year-old UFC color commentator Joe Rogan and the former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, are seen celebrating Volkanovski‘s victory before the final verdict.

The video of Rogan’s live reaction after watching the fight between Volkanovski and Makhachev clearly shows how badly he wanted ‘The Great’ to win. In the video, Rogan says “He choked him! oh my god, he is on top. This is incredible, this is f**king incredible! Oh my god, Volkanovski is a f***ing savage. Just 35 seconds to go, all he has to do is not get submitted and stay on top and he is the moth*****king double champ. He is the GOAT. Beat him up, got 15 seconds to go, he has got it, omg look at this. Volkanovski is the winner.”

Rogan had complete faith in Volkanovski and after watching the match, like millions of fans, he too was sure that Volkanovski was going to win.

Similar to Rogan’s reaction, the former middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, was also way too excited, assuming Volkanovski won the fight after round five. He got up from his seat and cheered for the champion. Furthermore, ‘The Last Stylebender’ had happy tears.

He hugged his fellow fighters and was elated after watching Volkanovski‘s brilliant fight against Makhachev. However, when the final verdict went to the judges, the game changed. The three judges scored the fight 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46 in favor of the Russian.

 The result of the bout caused an uproar among the fans and MMA fighters. They claimed that Volkanovski was “robbed” of victory. Fans considered Makhachev‘s victory as one of the most unfair decisions in the history of the UFC.

If Volkanovski was the winner, he would have been the double champion. Additionally, he would hold belts in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions. However, when Makhachev won, he retained his lightweight champion title.
