Gilbert Burns’ wife and kids stuck between an ugly brawl
At UFC 296, the Burns family found themselves right in the line of fire. During the Tony Ferguson vs. Paddy Pimblett fight, Dricus Du Plessis shouted something at Sean Strickland, triggering chaos. Strickland, sensing trouble, asked the Burns family to move. Bruna recalled later in an interview, “He was like, ‘Excuse me, excuse me,’ and I was like, alright then.”

Then all hell broke loose. “Durinho pulled our son Joshua and told me, ‘Get out of there, they’re going to fight!’” Bruna said. “We were looking at the big screen and didn’t see anything. Jamahal Hill pulled me as soon as he noticed they were going to brawl.”
Strickland later reached out to ‘Durinho’ to apologize, asking if Bruna or the kids were hurt. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the moment was a reminder of how quickly things can spiral in fight week madness.
Now, Gilbert Burns returns to the cage at UFC Vegas 106, facing the undefeated Michael Morales. Some might think the 38-year-old is slowing down in light of his 3-fight skid. Whether this is a resurgence or the final stretch of his career, one thing’s certain: ‘Burns’ isn’t walking alone. His family is walking right there with him.
