Conor McGregor‘s Twitter certainly needs no introduction. His handle on the micro-blogging site has been the source of multiple controversies for the former UFC double champ over the years. But occasionally, one can find the Irishman sharing a thoughtful gesture or something meaningful for the fans. And that’s exactly what ‘The Notorious’ did in one of his latest tweets.

Sharing a still from his fight against Ivan Buchinger back from his Cage Warriors days, McGregor talked about how he didn’t follow up on Buchinger after he dropped him with a counter left hand, calling such an act a ‘dishonorable’ one. Interestingly, fans didn’t quite agree with his statement. Many called him out for doing the same, specifically pointing out his performance against Jose Aldo later in his career.

Conor McGregor shares his sentiments on follow-up shots after a KO

The 34-year-old with this tweet shared his disagreement with fighters that followed up with ground and pound after knocking their opponents out to ensure a victory. He tweeted:

“I was never going to hit here. Fighters that do this are dishonorable in my opinion. It’s so much smoother to recognize the KO and billi walk off.”

The image that followed the caption was of him standing over Ivan Buchinger, who he had knocked out in the first round of their fight to claim the Cage Warriors Lightweight Championship. The sequence that led to the KO was a beautifully landed left hand that the southpaw set up by slipping out on Buchinger’s straight right. And just like he stated, McGregor did not continue attacking as the fight was aptly stopped by the official.

Although he might currently feel that it’s unwanted for fighters to attack an already downed opponent, the Irish man’s performance against Former featherweight champ Jose Aldo showed him doing exactly the same.

Fans react to the Irishman’s post, calling him out for being wrong

The majority of fans were just them calling him out on his own words. McGregor, during his fight against Aldo, who he famously knocked out in 13 seconds, had followed it up with a few quick strikes on the ground to seal his claim for the featherweight title.

Now, MMA fans on Twitter too hadn’t forgotten that, and they just went all out on the Irishman under his tweet.

Some even called him a straight liar.
