Sean O’Malley is getting the hype that many fighters can only dream off. However, he is still very young in the UFC. After just breaking into the Bantamweight rankings, several fighters are calling out O’Malley. Most of them are wrestlers who feel they can expose the holes in O’Malley’s game. But Sean isn’t averted to fighting people who wish to take him to the ground.

The streaking Bantamweight contender appeared on This Past Weekend podcast. He discussed how he wants to take his career forward. Touted as the next big thing, fans are seeing a bit of parallel between him and Conor McGregor. O’Malley is comfortable with fighting in the UFC for the next ten years. Hence, he has a plan ready.

He suffers from an internal dispute when it comes to fighting wrestlers. His confidence makes him believe he can defeat anybody. But when he thinks rationally, he knows that wrestlers can give him a tough time.

“I’m getting called out from a lot of wrestlers,” Sean said. “I feel like I wanna fight these mothe*****ers. Guys that literally wanna grab my leg and hold me down and not fight. Like Merab that kid that just fought last weekend. Guys that are scared to fight but love to grapple. It’s a risky fight for me to take.”

Sean was referring to Merab Dvalishvili who won his fight last weekend against Gustav Lopez. Dvalishvili said he wanted to fight Sean O’Malley as soon as next week.

Sean O’Malley wants to fight everyone but only after one condition

O’Malley is very careful in picking his fights. When he finishes his career he wants to look back and feel he did it the right way. To reach the top, he wants to take the smart way out. However, when he reaches the pinnacle he will be willing to accept fights from everyone.

“I feel like I am really good at Jiu-Jitsu but its a risky fight taking against someone that will literally take you down and hold you there. It’s not what the fans want to see. But when I become the champ I wanna take all those mothe*****ers down. But to get to that champ status I wanna take smarter fights,” O’Malley added.

“Sugar” is coming off after serving a suspension handed down by the USADA. He tried to utilize the time off by undergoing surgeries. He devoted more and more time on his Jiu-Jitsu. The Bantamweight is much more confident not the ground. Even if taken down, he knows he can hold his own on the ground against elite wrestlers.
