When?Bruce Lee?came to America, he eventually desired to open his own martial arts schools. It would help him immensely in supporting his expenditures in the country. He opened his first school, the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute in Seattle in 1964. However, Lee was dissatisfied with the business model of his second school in Oakland.
Lee?s biography,?Bruce Lee; A Life,?by Mathew Polly, revealed that the master was disappointed with the fee of $15 per student in his second martial arts school. It was quite less for him to run his martial arts business. He had to take a big step towards it.

What were the issues that Bruce Lee faced with a $15 fee?
Many do not know that Lee was able to establish his first school in Seattle after convincing many traditional martial arts practitioners about the efficiency of modern martial arts. He and famous instructor James Yimm Lee faced many questions from the preachers of traditional martial arts before they opened their school. Once Lee opened his institute in Seattle, it ran very well.

Soon, he planned to establish another branch in Oakland. The estimated fee per student in this branch was $15. Lee was not ready to abide by the price offered. Each class would have a maximum of seven to eight students, which was not enough for Lee to pay the rent of the place.
The master reached a solution that he had to attract more students for his Oakland branch. During those days, Lee was not financially stable. Hence, he had to do something soon to monetize his classes for a good cash flow. This meant that he had to visit Oakland for some time leaving behind his girlfriend, Linda Cadwell.
However, just when Lee was not expecting, he received more responsibilities on his shoulder while visiting Oakland.

Bruce Lee?s relationship with Linda was special?as she was instantly charmed by him?on their first date. But after just eight months in the relationship, he decided to visit Oakland. When Lee told his girlfriend about his decision, she was shattered. Linda had several apprehensions in her mind about Lee?s visit to Oakland, still, she was ready to support him. However, days before Lee?s departure, Linda and Bruce received the happiest news of their lives.

Lee’s biography revealed,??As the date of his departure in July 1964 approached, weeks of tearful goodbye s*x led to the discovery that Linda was pregnant.?
Although Lee was happy with the news, he felt the pressure of looking after his family. However, Lee made the best decision of his life after two and a half months of visiting Oakland. He wrote to Linda, proposing to marry him. Nevertheless, she was elated by the proposal.
