Come this August, two of the greatest bodybuilders of all time will be celebrating their birthdays. Jay Cutler and Flex Wheeler celebrate their 50th and 58th birthdays on the 3rd of August and the 23rd of August, respectively. And the urge to get back in their prime shape has pushed these two bodybuilders to commit to attaining great shape ahead of their upcoming birthdays.
It has been nearly ten years since Cutler retired from bodybuilding and almost three years after Wheeler underwent his leg amputation. However, looking at their determination to get back in shape in their 50s, these two bodybuilders truly live up to their incredible reputation.
Wheeler decided to uplift his life, even during trying times

Flex Wheeler recently took to his Instagram to make an announcement. He said, “Man I just woke up this morning so angry, so angry at myself. I’m so sick and tired of being sick and tired…” Coping with the harsh reality of his life has been a long and arduous effort for Wheeler. The 4X Arnold Classic champion’s ordeal with his kidney disease, which started in 1999, eventually culminated in the amputation of his leg in 2019.

It was never a pleasant feeling for the bodybuilder in the last two decades, but the last three years have been particularly harsh. But putting those woes aside, Wheeler committed to himself and his fans to bring out a new version of himself. He continued, “I’m going to the gym, be dedicated, and I’m going to persevere through everything that I’ve been through to make it happen…”

He plans to be in his best shape ahead of his 58th birthday. And this comes right on the heels of Jay Cutler dropping hints about getting back in shape before his 50th birthday.
Cutler and Wheeler might set off a new trend

Cutler, who was known to have his “BOULDER SHOULDERS” during his heyday, wishes to bring them back to his already stunning physique. The 4X Mr. Olympia has been taking every preparatory step to achieve his goal of having an ideal physique before he turns 50. And that includes sticking to a diet plan, bringing the “cap back to his delts,” and overall spending more time in the gym. Interestingly, inspired by Ronnie Coleman, Cutler also plans to publish a book before his 50th birthday.

While these two legendary bodybuilders are back on track to getting in the best shape, fans can only hope it sets off a chain reaction among other bodybuilding greats. Who knows? There might be stiff competition ahead for veteran bodybuilders in their 50s.
