Arnold Schwarzenegger has been absent from the bodybuilding scene for a while. The Asturian Oak didn’t attend this year’s Arnold Classic, nor did anyone spot the bodybuilding icon during the Olympia weekend. However, Schwarzenegger finally broke his silence on this year’s Mr. Olympia contest.

Schwarzenegger earlier appeared on the popular YouTube channel Nick’s Strength and Power. During the exclusive interview, he spoke about Mr. Olympia 2022, including his thoughts on the top five placings and the colossal upset.

What Arnold Schwarzenegger thought of the judging

During his conversation with Nick Miller, Schwarzenegger expressed his thoughts on the judging. Arnie said judging is ultimately a matter of opinion. “One can say that Derek maybe was better than Hadi and Nick was better than Brandon,” said Schwarzenegger. The former Mr. Olympia said almost everyone has a different opinion on who they think should’ve won.

However, the 75-year-old also said that he didn’t oppose the judges’ decision. “I couldn’t even criticize the one placing,” said the seven-time Mr. Olympia. Arnie said when he looked at the top five bodybuilders of the 2022 Mr. Olympia men’s open division, he felt “the judges did really a great job.” Miller also asked Schwarzenegger about Nick Walker placing ahead of Big Ramy.

Miller asked what Schwarzenegger thought about last year’s Arnold Classic winner Nick Walker earning third place. The former Mr. Universe said he congratulated Walker when he won the Arnold Classic in 2021. He had also informed Walker about his potential to place higher in future Mr. Olympia contests. “I was right,” Schwarzenegger told Miller.

According to him Nick Walker could “eventually” win the Mr. Olympia title if he works on his posing. The Austrian Oak also had some advice for Mr. Olympia winner, Big Ramy.

How Big Ramy can regain the Mr. Olympia title

This year, Big Ramy was the favorite to win the premier bodybuilding contest. However, after the pre-judging, people’s opinions changed. Many people pointed out Ramy’s lack of conditioning, and Schwarzenegger echoed the same sentiment. The former Mr. Olympia also compared himself and Sergio Oliva to Hadi and Ramy. “It’s the perfect example that bigger is not better,” said Arnie.

The Austrian said Ramy’s mistake is reversible and advised the two-time Mr. Olympia to lose ten to twenty pounds of weight next year. The former Mr. Universe said instead of gaining more muscle, Ramy should focus on chiseling down his waist and improving his muscle quality. According to him Ramy could reclaim his title if he focused on fine-tuning his physique.
