Saudi Crown, the son of Tapit, has faced two consecutive losses. At Dwyer stakes, the horse failed to win the Grade three equestrian event after Fort Bragg clinched the first position on the podium. Following this loss, the three-year-old horse once again faced disappointment at Jim Dandy stakes. It secured the second position at the grade two event.

However, amid these back-to-back losses, the Saudi Crown’s trainer, Brad Cox, found a way to look at these setbacks in a different light. The trainer has set his eye on a million-dollar triumph. Recently, while addressing the performance of Crown in the previous races, the trainer revealed his plans to secure the horse’s spot at the grade one event.

According to Cox, this defeat will help the Saudi Crown prepare for the highly-anticipated Grade One event at Parx Racing. In this million-dollar event, the Pennsylvania Derby, horses with ages up to three years will participate. Since Crown’s participation in the Dwyer stakes, the trainer is planning to take the horse to the Pennsylvania Derby for his debut G1 race.

At the Jim Dandy, the Saudi Crown lost his title to a brown colt Forte. On the field that lacked pace, Saudi Crown was leading the race till the last minute. However, in the final jump, Todd A. Pletcher’s trained horse Forte surpassed the three-year-old. However, amid this defeat, Cox believes the Saudi Crown will regain its dominance at the spa season on Saturday. The horse will also face Bob Baffert’s trained horse, Reincarnate, at the event.

Saudi Crown vs. Reincarnate

In the spa seasoning, the Saudi Crown will have to face Reincarnate and nine other rivals to pave its way toward the Pennsylvania Derby. Crown, who was brought for $240,000, will join from post 3 on Saturday. On the other hand, Reincarnate, who will be ridden by Del Mar riding champ Juan Hernandez, will try to get the lead on the first turn of the race. The two horses will be seen riding closely with each other to gain victory. According to Cox, Crown will be a better horse at this event. “He’s in a great spot to get a Grade 1 win that would be huge for him,” he said.
