He left his competitors far behind with his score and earned the gold medal for his heroics to the tune of RocketMan by Elton John.

With a combined score of 332.60, he proved his dominance in the sport. However, the one thing that caught everyone’s attention was Nathan Chen’s outfit at the Olympics. Decked in shades of red and black and all things fire, Chen’s outfit garnered mixed reactions from fans.

However, Chen was seen in a different outfit on the Stars On Ice tour recently. And fans think it is a level up, all things considered.

An all-new look for Nathan Chen

Nathan Chen is currently in Japan for the Stars On Ice tour. Not just him, many other talented figure skaters from the world are also present, including Team USA.

At one of his final performances, Chen wore a beautiful black outfit with white flowers embedded in it. Fans think this is a good look for the young skater as compared to his Olympic outfit.

“Nathan Chen did his Olympics routine at stars on ice but he changed his outfit to one with a v neck and flowers,,,,,, progress,” posted a fan. His new outfit in Japan was very different from the Olympic one. And it seems like this one has received the stamp of approval from his followers.

Notably, before the Olympics, Nathan usually wore his regular Nike t-shirt and black trousers for his performance, in a tuxedo-like look. Hence, a change of outfits now really made the buzz, and fans couldn’t get enough of it.

Famous designer Vera Wang was the one behind his Olympic outfit. The designer herself has revealed the details of the outfit and how they spent months choosing the material itself.

The story behind Chen’s Olympic look

Nathan’s Winter Olympic outfit was a galaxy print stretchable t-shirt paired with black pants. However, he did not receive a good reaction to his outfit from his fans. But, a lot of effort went into that design by Vera Wang.

?It was meant to refer to the fire and power to propel man out of the atmosphere?I wanted this costume to look like he was on fire,” revealed Wang.

At 72 years old, Chen is the 4th Olympian that Vera Wang has designed an outfit for. Not to mention, Vera was a figure skater herself and competed in the 1968 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
